Ferrari Admits Costly Mistakes After Hamilton and Leclerc Disqualified

Ferrari faced a tough setback at the Chinese Grand Prix as both Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc were disqualified due to technical violations. The team admitted their errors and vowed to learn from them for future races.

A Weekend to Forget for Ferrari

Hamilton and Leclerc originally finished in fifth and sixth place, but post-race inspections revealed rule breaches. Hamilton’s car was found with excessive skid block wear (0.5mm below the limit), while Leclerc’s car was 1kg underweight.

What Went Wrong?

Ferrari acknowledged the mistakes, explaining that their strategy shift led to miscalculations. Leclerc’s one-stop strategy resulted in unexpected tire wear, causing his car to be underweight. Meanwhile, Hamilton’s car’s skid wear exceeded the permitted level due to a miscalculated estimate of track impact.

No Intentional Advantage

The team emphasized that there was no deliberate attempt to gain an unfair edge. Ferrari stated:
"We will learn from what happened today and make sure we don’t make the same mistakes again."

Despite the disappointment, Ferrari remains focused on improving performance and preventing similar issues in future races.
